Class structures have now been finalised for Class 3 and should, all being good, make the sport fully accessible to all as they now transition seamlessly in to Marathon classes.
In association with OCRDA, UKOPRA will be providing the traditional class 3 races that extends to open sea racing where the race becomes against the elements!
Class addendums to UIM class rules for UK National Offshore races 2018
To be read in conjunction with UIM series 300 complete, 500 complete and series 700 – 735 of the 2018 UIM rule book.

A minimum of five boats registered per class is expected to constitute a national race with a minimum of 3 entries at each race.
3A / 3B
Non homologated engines are accepted. HP rating is as that given by the manufacturer and engines should not be modified in any way from manufacturer specifications.
A lower rated base powerhead may be modified to bring it up to a declared horsepower that will be subjected to dyno testing if required.
A non stepped hull will be permitted to utilise 150hp / 2700cc but with a minimum weight including crew of 860kg.
3X
Non homologated engines are accepted. HP rating is as that given by the manufacturer and engines should not be modified in any form from manufacturers specifications.
A lower rated base powerhead may be modified to bring it up to a declared horsepower that will be subjected to dyno testing if required.
The minimum length is decreased to 6.0m.
Standard minimum width is increased to 2.4m.
Engines exceeding 200hp but not exceeding 300 hp may be utilised subject to the minimum weight being increased by 200kg per 50hp over 200.
Catamarans are accepted subject to a 20% weight penalty applied after all other class criteria.
3N (national basic)
This is a UK only class and will be subject to all the provisions of 3X but as follows:
Horsepower / cylinder capacity – unlimited but to be declared.
Engines modified from manufacturers standard will be subject to dyno testing.
Minimum length – 7.25m
Maximum length – 9.25m
Maximum width – free
Minimum weight (Including crew) to be 4.5kg / declared hp
Minimum flotation – commensurate with the overall weight.
V24
V24 is a recognised class under UKOPRA however where entries fall below three at an event they should be included with 3N and meet the criteria for that class.
Marathon A/B/C/D/E/H1/H2
1200 series rules are being addressed at present by BPRC to resolve those issues arising in the past year or two.
